Boxing has always been about perspectives, but even the sport's most jaded critics have to acknowledge the singular accomplishment of mercurial Philadelphia middleweight Tyrone (The One) Brunson.

The unbeaten 24-year-old, holds the world record for consecutive first-round knockouts.

Twenty fights,
19 KOs!

With his 15th first-round stoppage against David Johnson on March 9, 2007, Brunson eclipsed the North American record set by Young Otto (119-30) in 1905.

He then tied the world record of 18 - set by current WBA super featherweight champ Edwin Valero of Venezuela - by starching Jamie Waru in Auckland, New Zealand, last June.

It took Brunson just 72 seconds to notch record-setting No. 19 against a warm body named Francis McKechnai on March 29 in Michigan.

"He's created a buzz, no doubt about it," said Adam Harris, North American managing director for Britain's Hennessy Sprots, which is promoting the August 15 card in association with River Cree Resort.

"You can say what you want about the relative records, but the bottom line is that Tyrone has done what no other fighter in history has done, in any division.

"Nobody can ever take that away from him."

The combined records of first-round KO victims for Valero, who won the WBA title in his 20th pro outing, was 112-102-17. Opponents for Brunson, who fights in a more competitive weight class, have combined for a 60-94-8 ledger.

Knockout power is nothing new for Brunson, however. Nearly 90% of his 82 amateur wins were via the KO route.

The former Pennsylvania Golden Gloves champ turned pro in 2005.
